Thermal Suite 90

What it's like

Non-members can use the sauna here. The Thermal Suite at The Grand Brighton (the spa is branded L.RAPHAEL Beauty Spa & Wellness) takes external visitors for £40 a person, and hotel guests pay £30. Access is for 90 minutes and has to be booked in advance. You don't need to book a treatment, because the venue says Thermal Suite access can be booked separately.

The suite is on the lower ground floor of the hotel at 97-99 King's Road. It has a hydrotherapy pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and experience showers. The cold side is the showers; no plunge pool or ice bath is listed. The sauna's type, temperature and capacity aren't published, so you won't know in advance whether it is hot and dry or something gentler.

Robes, towels and flip-flops are provided, and there are lockers with male and female changing. Swimwear must be worn throughout the thermal facilities, and you bring your own. A Spa Lounge serves food and drinks, and the menu includes cocktails, Champagne and wine. Phones aren't allowed in the spa or relaxation room.

Who it's for

Adults who want a timed spa session in a hotel rather than a social sauna, with towels and a bar on hand. It also suits anyone who'd rather book the suite alone than pay for a full spa day. Packages add a back massage (from £99), a facial (from £109) or afternoon tea (from £179).
